Backyard Antics & Smiling Babes

One maternity leave luxury I have right now is that I have time to bond with Demi while Cam gets special attention at Inny’s house.

Cam and Inny spend a lot of time in the backyard so Cam can run around, help Inny with the garden, make believe in the playhouse, and turn everything into a game.

This photo from Inny gave me a good laugh… where’s Camden?

And in between naps and feedings, I’m getting more and more smiles out of this little one. They light up my day! Just pure sweetness.

Bubbles and Babies

Lately I’ve been really enjoying bath time with Cam because, well, for one thing, he is contained in a 2×5 area and that’s a welcome relief from chasing him in and out of the house, but also because he expresses his creativity in interesting ways. He also talks a lot and I love hearing what he has to say.

For instance, last night we discussed at length all the things that fly. We named all the animals we could think of and he said “I think that’s all the creatures.” Then we named all the aircraft we could think of, and then we moved on to things that may or may not fly like kites, baseballs and monkeys. Cam firmly believes that if it doesn’t have wings, it doesn’t fly.

The bath time game of the moment is lining up his big blocks, filling them with faucet water and then serving everyone until they are no longer thirsty.

He’ll ask “which one do you want?” and I’ll pick a block, then he’ll pick his and say “cheers” before drinking it. This kid loves drinking faucet water. It’s “delicious!”

DemO is Dominating the Growth Charts

Demi Grey @ 2 Months

Demi’s 2 month check-up was today. In addition to 4 shots in the legs and 1 oral vaccination, we got to see how well she’s growing. Now, just knowing what other babies look like at 2 months, I figured we had another beefcake on our hands. Turns out that’s very true. And the numbers are….

  • Weight: 14 lbs. 1 oz. (95 %ile)
  • Length: 24″ (97 %ile)
  • Head Circumference: 16.2″ (99 %ile)

She was a champ taking her shots and is now knocked out. Hopefully she can just sleep it off instead of feeling any symptoms.

We’re so happy to have another chunky monkey!

Demi Grey is 2 Months Old

This sweet little girl is already 2 months old. As you can see from the photos, I am experimenting with bows… because I don’t really know what I’m doing yet. When I was doing monthly photos with Cam, he tolerated 1 quick set of photos and he was DONE. Demi allowed me 4 different bows and both sitting up and laying down shots. She definitely lets me do what I need to do before she needs snuggles and milk.

A few random notes about Ms. Grey:

  • Her hair is growing back FAST
  • She gets the hiccups a lot, just like she did in the womb
  • She’s wearing 6 month clothing, but appears to have plateaued in weight, at least for a little bit
  • She has clammy hands and feet
  • She yells before she sneezes, kind of like an old person, or her Uncle Coco

Tummy Time

Cam is still just barely starting to interact with “little sister”. Today he helped with Demi’s tummy time. He held the toy out and shook it and she turned her head toward it. Then, after a few minutes of trying to hold her head up, she got frustrated and asked Cam to find her “baba”. He ran and got it, put it in her mouth and she was instantly soothed. When I told him he made her happy, he got excited and gave me a kiss. Small moment, but very sweet.
